Avengers [06 May 2012|03:06pm]

I think my portfolio increase H$6,953,334.28 after adjust today is my highest since The Dark Knight was released. I picked up 50,000 shares of The Avengers at 163.37 a piece and now it's $540!

The voyage of the dawn treader [11 Dec 2010|03:16pm]

So it seems most people think this will get around the $27 million mark over the weekend so are dropping it like crazy and it's lost nearly $30 a share over the last two days. I'm still hopeful of it getting nearer the $40million mark which would bring it up somewhere near the price I bought it for as I bought it before Prince Caspian tanked.

Are people forgetting that he adjusts for The Trotsky before he does so for The Sorceror's Apprentice?

That swooshing noise you just heard was the sound of my portfolio shedding almost a million dollars.

Thanks, Clint! :(

Thankyou my bad memory [23 Nov 2009|07:05am]

I had meant to dump my shares in New Moon before it opened this weekend as I thought any gain it would make would be minimal and I felt the risk of it falling flat on it's arse were too great but I forgot it was opening this weekend. $107.30 gain a share later I am thankful for my bad memory, especially as it's had a knock on effect for Twillight 3 and 4 with both gaining over $12 a share. And with the added bonus of Roger Rabbit 2 gaining $12 a share after it's IPO it's turned into my best day ever in over 4 years of playing, a gain of nearly $7.5million.

Well, some days you're the hammer, and some days you're the nail. And I think tomorrow I will be the nail :-(

My predictions after seeing Friday's figures are I'll make a few dollars from shorting JULIE, PGETA, and 500DS, but that will be more than offset by the bath I'm going to take from shorting GIJOE.

Let's see how bad I can screw up this weekend. I'm shorting all the openers.

You know this is a rough game when you gain $3 million in one day and still fall 5 places in the lifetime rankings.

Gut check time since Harry Potter opens today...I'm holding a full bucket o' shares long. Don't disappoint me, Harry!

Transformers 2 would need a Batman 2 style opening just to break even, and I figured it would *never* do that. So I shorted the thing.

And I'll be damned if it isn't approaching a Batman 2 style opening :-(

Based on Wednesday and Thursday's figures, it only needs to pull a hair over $91 million Fri - Sun to break even on the adjust. The world is going to have to explode in a gigantic fireball for it to not do at least that much.

I need to quit playing openers :-(

On the positive side, the new site doesn't suck. Definitely several orders of magnitude better than that last piece of bovine fecal matter they tried to pawn off as "new and improved".

I sure hope they don't screw it up like the last attempt at an "upgrade". None of that "schmoozing" crap or any of that nonsense. I also hope it will stay up for more than two hours at a time.

Friday morning this little voice kept screaming "Short IMGTH!!! Its gonna tank!!!". I ignored it and didn't hold any openers in any fashion.

Should have listened to the voice.

Curse you, Tom Hanks!! Curse you!!

A little voice told me not to hold the Angels and Demons opener while Trek and Wolverine were still pulling strong. But did I listen? Hell no!

Oh well, I gonna lose about a million...its only money.

What the hell, its only money. Worst that can happen is I lose $9.7 million...

So I'm holding Trek long.

Its gut check time...

WOLVE...long, short, or not holding?

At this point, I'm thinking long. Mojo says 4000 theaters. If it does at least as well as X-Men: The Last Stand, which did $27,845 per theater on its opening weekend, an adjust to $300 is quite possible.

While I'm here, let's talk TRK11. I wanna be a loyal fan and all, and right now I'm holding long. But its been 7 years since the Enterprise last flew in the theaters, and it only did $6800 per theater then. On the one hand, a Trek movie has never pulled the opening numbers necessary to even suggest the current $172 share price. And it will be facing the second weekend of WOLVE. But on the other hand, its getting hype out the yingy-yang and good buzz like a big dog...even *I* already have tickets bought for opening weekend, and I haven't set foot in a theater since 2003 (the comfort of my home theater is so much better than listening to a bunch of noisy idiots at an actual theater). Mojo doesn't have a theater count up yet for TRK11.

Comments? Opinions?

Monsters Vs Aliens Actor Adjusts [18 Apr 2009|06:43pm]

rileysaplank
The actors from MVSA will adjust this coming Tuesday and even if the film makes no money over this weekend the folowing four will adjust upwards:

Keifer Sutherland: $48.90 (currently $46.91)

Paul Rudd: $67.34 (currently $46.78)

Seth Rogan: $125,78 (curently $123.50

Will Arnett: $66.96 (currently $60.02)

The other actors involved are above what they'd adjust to at the movies current take, but would adjust upwards if it makes it's current price (about $13million above it's current take).

Damn. I thought seriously about holding Haunting through the weekend, but then I got cold feet. Pardon me while I go bang my head on the wall. Guess I'll just have to settle for the measly return on Monster.

Ages ago, I bought stock in Coraline for $18.89/share. I held it for a loooong time, and it mostly went down during that time. Now that I'm at 200% gain and rising, I'm thinking -- totally worth it. :)

Since I don't play much, and I was never very good at the game, this is one of my biggest gains ever. Makes me happy. :) (I suppose I should actually go out and watch the film now...)
